About

GIRL Talk is a podcast for girls, hosted by Girl Scouts River Valleys. Girl Scouts is there to support all girls, wherever and whoever they are. GIRLs are Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, and Leaders–we know you’re out there speaking up, speaking out, leading school clubs, mastering new skills, playing instruments, running races, swimming laps, looking at stars, sleeping in tents, drawing, painting, writing, coding, taking tests, applying for college, supporting your family, and dealing with all that life throws at you.

Join our podcast team as they dive into topics like careers, STEM, culture, race, advocacy, video games, nature, failure, and what it takes to be a leader. They’ll feature interviews with subject-matter experts, community leaders, women in cool careers, and girls like you who are out there doing amazing things.

Hannah Gilbert

Host

Hannah is the STEM Program Manager and seasonal Director of Camp Lakamaga at Girl Scouts River Valleys. Truly living her best life, she spends her time during the school year creating science, technology and engineering events and her summers working outside with staff and campers. Hannah is passionate (and will talk your ear off) about girls taking the lead in their lives—developing persistence and empathy along the way. In her free time, Hannah plays many video games, enjoys a good movie, and loves taking walks with her 6-lb pup, Figgy.

Shanna Woods

Host

Shanna worked at Girl Scouts River Valleys as a Program Planner for the ConnectZ team, hosting and supporting staff-led Girl Scout troops in the Twin Cities metro area focusing on race, culture, and identity. While she is truly a girl expert and is still committed to empowering girls and young women, she has moved on to a new position at another organization that will help her take the next step on her career path. We’ll miss her! You can hear Shanna as co-host of our first two seasons, sharing her perspective, experiences, expertise, and contagious laugh.

In her free time she plays guitar, loves watching great TV shows, listens to podcasts and music, gets outside whenever she can, drinks the best coffee, and spends time in sunbeams with her big fluffy cat Marley.
